A Scatter-gun approach rarely finds its’ target!

The key to business success is focus. Focus on your core product or service, don’t jump from one market to another or have a scatter-gun approach as you’ll rarely hit the target.

The lack of consistent focus has real consequences for any business. Growth is often slow and when goals aren’t met, owners become frustrated, feeling like they’re falling behind in the marketplace which can lead to reactive decision making.

Rather than focusing on a long-term strategy, choices are made based on what a competitor is doing, industry buzzwords, or whatever bright and shiny solution happens to capture the owner’s attention at that moment.

It’s an impulsive process that easily becomes a business behaviour, as one rapidly-made bad decision leads to another.

As a company, we know focus is key, and we also know how important it is to our success.

ConXhub started life as a very simple idea. I was requested to call our Mr ‘Ass-Hole’ client (we have all got one), at eight o’clock at night. That meant staying on at the office after hours or calling him from my mobile phone when at home. Neither was good, but there was no way I wanted him to have my mobile number – imagine the consequences!

So we built a solution. Using ConXhub on my mobile phone I could now call Mr ‘A’, from our office number, keeping my personal mobile number private! Perfect… and because it was on my mobile I could actually call anyone from anywhere.

Our focus has always been on supporting users and companies who want to use a personal mobile phone for their business communications instead of a second mobile or desk phone, and to this end we have been highly successful.

However, it has amazed us at how our product has pulled us in to other verticals and arenas.

For example, Call Centres are signing up to use ConXhub as it does not rely on VoIP and gives them perfect connectivity plus the ability to call from any campaign phone number. One call centre now has over 9000 phone numbers with us and are looking to scale up to 20,000 by the end of 2020.

Some users are using ConXhub virtual mobile numbers to verify with services like Facebook, Instagram, TicketMaster and Coinbase with one client scaling to over 5000 USA Mobile numbers this month alone.

We have clients bouncing calls into India, Philippines and beyond and transferring them seamlessly to UK staff where needed.

We have clients just using us for our Call Conference services, Mobile MiFID II Call Recording or World Beating Reports & Stats.

Others are using the power of ConXhub to expand their international trade by appearing local when they call overseas and some are using the ConXhub Widget to handle calls across multiple remote workers.

All in all I feel a bit whorish, happy to handle anything, but as it is business that is spinning off our core product, I guess I really shouldn’t be concerned.

My best advise is to focus on your core product, and don’t get pulled down an avenue because it looks like the next big profit centre, let the market come to you. Users know better than you how they can use your product, so let them evaluate and decide.
