I know for most of us we like to look at Sunday as a day of rest. An opportunity to unwind from the busy lives we lead, (and maybe be a little bit hungover).
While I’m not suggesting you should stop your Sunday roast and Netflix binges, there are a few habits you can adopt that will also fit right into your Sunday schedule, and will set you up for your most productive week yet!
Not only that, they will help you say goodbye to Monday blues, and allow you to avoid overwhelm or anxiety. (We all know that dread can sneak up on us and ruin your Sunday evening, or worse, give you sleepless nights!)
So here are 7 changes you can implement this week that will help you to drastically improve your productivity through the week, as well as your mindset.
1. Switch up your mindset
Start thinking of Sundays as the first day of the week. This small little mindset shift gives you a whole extra 24 hours in your week!
Use Sunday to prep for the week ahead.
Having your week prepped out will really take the edge off Monday, get you motivated for the coming week, and gives you a clear structure for what you want to achieve.
You can even do this from the comfort of your sofa too!
2. Meal prep
This small little change is going to save you time and money, which is only a win-win.
Again, you don’t even have to leave the house for this if you don’t want to, and you’re a fan of online shopping!
Spend some time on Pinterest looking for delicious new recipes to try, then get your food in for the week. If you want to save yourself even more time, you can prepare your meals on Sunday, meaning minimal time spent for the rest of the week.
3. Plan everything!
Plan, plan, and then plan some more.
Sundays are great for catching up with your favorite planner and getting your to-do’s in order.
Our free productivity planner is perfect for this, so make sure to download your copy.
Sometimes, it’s nice to get your most important tasks down on paper using a good old-fashioned pen, so make sure to get the productivity planner printed for maximum use!
Plan your week down to the hour, if you can.
Lay down your most important to-do’s and spread them out on your calendar as results (not actions).
Let’s say you plan to work on your blog from 1 pm – 3 pm on a Thursday. You wouldn’t just put down “work on the blog“.
Instead, write down the results you expect to see in that timeframe.
So for example that might be “write a blog post about productivity”, “email subscribers”, or “create productivity freebie”.
See how this can motivate you more?
Be as specific and detailed as you can.
This will really improve your productivity and make you feel more organised and structured.
Why stop there? You can even go as far as mapping out your social activities for the week, work out times, self-care times, pretty much anything you plan on doing in the coming week.
4. Prioritise your to-do list
Your to-do list is holy and sometimes it can feel endless.
So, make sure you prioritise your to-do list in order of urgency and importance.
Tick off the most crucial task before you move onto the next, and make sure you’re constantly checking off things as you do them, add new tasks and keep it flowing.
Again, our free productivity planner is perfect for this and will help you create a visual map to drill down your to-do’s.
There’s really no better feeling than ticking off things on your to-do list, right? Just stick to one list and avoid countless post-its all over your computer screen and workspace.
5. Set goals
Do you know what Sundays are also great for?
Setting goals.
Stop and reflect on your life, the week that’s just passed and make sure you are moving forward towards your dreams and ultimate goals in life.
We should all be taking small steps every day that are aligned with our one big goal or dream.
It’s actually frightening to think that so many of us never actually do anything remotely related to our goals.
Really stop to think about your life, goals, and dreams every Sunday.
Reflect, visualize and take notes.
Where are you now?
Where do you want to be?
And what can you do the following week to get closer to your dreams?
If you’re currently unsure of what your dreams are, our productivity planner is a great tool to help you map this out.
Divide your big goal into smaller actionable goals that are time-sensitive.
Use your Sundays wisely and get your goals in order.
6. Practise Self-Care
Don’t let there ever go a Sunday without practicing some self-care and self-love.
It’s so important to set aside time for yourself.
It might be a warm bubble bath, some meditation, reading a book, a long walk listening to your favorite podcast, or going out with your loved one or best friend for dinner.
Whatever self-care is for you, do it every Sunday, better yet, every day!
7. Unwind & Relax
Last but not least, make sure to do absolutely nothing as well.
Sundays are not meant to be stressful but they are great for prepping and getting a head start on your work.
Remember it’s still a day of rest so make sure to schedule your downtime.
