COVID-19: FIVE STEPS TO HELPING CLIMB OUT THE HOLE
As Business Leaders we find ourselves in challenging times. Your immediate plans are in turmoil and potentially those for 2020 too and even beyond. You will be facing difficult days ahead but there is always something we can do, always avenues of opportunity if we look.
Here are 5 steps to help through tumultuous times:
1. RISK
Consider where and how the current situation is having the most serious impact on your business. Is it cash, customers, supply, talent, or a combination of all of them? By scenario setting and examining risk in detail you can put together a strategy that can best deal with each sector, and help you formulate a plan.
2. CASH
At times like this, the biggest problem is nearly always cash or lack of it. You need a deep analysis of where your main cash problems lie. The Government has put together various packages and schemes to help businesses whose cash reserves are depleted. Consider putting together a strategy based solely around cash, and cash flow.
3. OPTIONS
Your business may well have to take a different path to the one you’re currently on. Talk with your team about different options you can take. Think creatively and develop a strategy that can be implemented effectively.
4. COMMUNICATION
These are worrying times for many. That’s why communication is key. Talking to your customers, suppliers and employees in a way that is open and compassionate will show that you’re a business that is staying true to its values.

5. OPPORTUNITIES
It’s not always the best idea to keep plowing the same furrow. Now could be the time to look at other opportunities and areas your business could move into.
When times are tough it can be hard to see light at the end of the
tunnel. But by being proactive, looking for new opportunities, and adopting new
strategies you can put yourself in a stronger position for when the tide turns.
